1 Juan 2:6 Magandang Balita Biblia (MBBTAG)
Bulayin natin, Anong uri kang alagad?

What Kind of Disciple Are You?
1 John 2:6
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
12 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.[b]” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.
7 “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”
9 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.
In John 12, we will be able to read about the last week of our Lord Jesus here on earth. While on His way to Jerusalem, He stopped by Bethany to attend feast that was dedicated for Him. With Him on that supper were four believers whose lives were testimonies of their relationship with Jesus.
- Martha, a disciple who serves (verse 2)
In Luke 10:38-41, she complained that Maria wasn’t helping her out in preparing. But in this feast there wasn’t a single complaint. She learned from the Lord how to serve with gladness.
- Mary, a disciple who worships (verse 3-8)
Pouring out an expensive perfume just to show her faithful worship to the Lord. What she did was the proof of her abundant devotion and love for the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Judas, a worldly disciple (verse 4-6). He was one of Christ’s disciples and the one who was entrusted with the financial aspects. He felt regretful of what he thought Mary has wasted because what he had in mind were material things, things of the world.
- Lazarus, a disciple who testifies (verse 9-11). He was resurrected by our Lord Jesus from the dead. Because of this, he became an effective witness of the grace of God. Because of him, many Jews had been able to change their mind and believed in the Lord.
Let us meditate, What Kind of Disciple are We? How are you living your life as a testimony of your relationship with our Lord Jesus?
